He is the world's top-ranked player. Winner of the Yonex Open Japan 2005 and runner-up
at the 2005 World Championships, Lin Dan is undoubtedly the leading player in
the world. He contributed to the victory of China by winning at the 2004 Thomas
Cup. As a left handed player, he hits one of the world's most powerful smashes
as he wields total control of his racket. Lin Dan is in a good position to lead
his team to the title at the Thomas Cup 2006 and is the hope of the Chinese team

She is the doubles partner of Kumiko Ogura. In 2004, the partners won the doubles
titles at the All-Japan Championships for Employees and the All-Japan Championships,
to become Japan's top players. At the Yonex Open 2005, the pair competed against
the leading players of the world and claimed third place. Shiota’s mental calmness
and ability to analyze opponents during her matches give her the advantage to

Date of birth: July 5, 1983
Paired with Reiko Shiota, Ogura has become a star player. Taking advantage
of her height of 170cm, her smashes prove a powerful weapon. The exquisite combination
of the pair’s offense helps them compete well at the international matches of
the Yonex Open Japan to finish No. 3. For the Uber Cup, she is expected to play
a central role for the Japanese team both strategically and psychologically.

Date of birth: September 19, 1982
He is Japan's top player. He is the only player who has won the Japanese national
championships through all age divisions as well as the 2003 and 2004 All-Japan
Championships. With his speed and tenacity, Sato is versatile at using his entire
body to deliver consistent strokes. He also consistently shows agile footwork
throughout his match. He competed in the Thomas Cup for the first time in 2004
and contributed to Japan's team finishing fifth. At the 2005 All England Open,
Sato finished in fifth place, which happens to be an enormous accomplishment by
Japan since it has not been done in 30 years.
